Allanridge Flamingo Lake
The Allanridge Flamingo Lake is home to bird species with the dominant ones being the flamingos. The grounds banks of the lake which is close to mine shafts and dumps may offer opportunity for recreational facilities. However, this may prove to be difficult because the lake water seems to be polluted from acid mine drains
Allan Roberts Memorial and gold prospecting borehole
This monument marks the site where a borehole was sunk in search for gold bearing reef in May 1933. The farm where drilling started for this ambitious project is called Aandenk. The monument which takes the plan form of a key built around the bore hole symbolises the search for gold in the Free State and the notion of discovery of the ‘key to prosperity.
